The History of AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions
In May 2004, AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions opened with two Mother's Day baskets. A business venture of the non-profit's Vocational Training Services Program, the idea hatched as a way to combat the outsourcing that plagued Long Island manufacturing companies and had not eluded AHRC Work Centers. By creating it's own enterprise, the Work Centers would not have to rely solely on the subcontracts of outside businesses to teach valuable vocational skills and work ethics to the more than 600 AHRC Vocational Training participants.
Each gift basket sold from AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions creates paid opportunities in assembly and packaging jobs for adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
The gift basket business is a competitive one but AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions has flourished by catering to the corporate community as well as the individual buyer. We have carved our niche as a professional and quality company that also improves the lives of individuals with intellectual and other developmental diabilities. All proceeds from our growing gift basket business is invested in AHRC programs and services. It's a unique selling advantage that often impresses clients, business associates, friends and family.
Today, AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions has a unique line of over 35 baskets. Our Long Island baskets consist exclusively of locally made products by such as Tate's cookies of Southampton, North Fork potato chips, Miss Amy jams (made from the region's grapes), Manny's Pit Bull Hot Sauce (Bay Shore), and many others!
AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions also offers holiday baskets, wedding baskets, sympathy baskets and baskets for every occasion, as well as unique themed gift baskets.
AHRC Suffolk Baskets For All Occasions will customize a gift basket to fit any occasion. Many of our baskets feature ceramic pieces made at AHRC (and by AHRC participants!) that can be painted to match a particular color schemes.
